About Us
At Strength in Stories, we believe everyone has a better chance at life when they connect through stories, so we aim to remove barriers to reading by offering easier access to good books.
Our Vision:
A world where every person discovers the joy of reading, sparking curiosity, empathy, and limitless opportunity.
Our Mission:
Strength in Stories helps kids and families fall in love with reading by making it fun, friendly, and easy to do, no matter where they’re starting from. We do this by sharing stories, building community, and showing how reading can help us grow into strong, confident people.
How we do it:
We believe stories have the power to help us dream big, build confidence, and feel less alone, so we:
-
Share kid-approved book lists that are easy to explore by age, interest, or mood
-
Run fun reading challenges that come with real rewards like patches or stickers or even books!
-
Create a welcoming space where kids can enjoy reading without pressure or judgment
-
Encourage everyone to be brave, curious, and kind - just like the stories we love
-
Make reading feel like something you get to do, not something you have to do.
Why this Matters
Reading is more than schoolwork - it's one of the best ways to grow your imagination,
feel connected to others and believe in yourself. But many kids stop reading for fun as they get older,
specially girls who don’t see themselves in the stories they’re assigned at school.
Here's what we know:
-
Kids who read for fun do better in school—and in life
-
Reading helps kids feel seen and understood, especially when books reflect who they are
-
Summer and weekend reading helps prevent learning loss and builds confidence
-
Only 1 in 3 kids say they read for fun every day, even though most want to
-
That’s why Strength in Stories is here: to make reading fun, fair, and full of choices.
About the Founder
Hi! I’m Carolina, the founder of Strength in Stories. I’m 13 years old, and I’ve always loved reading. When I was younger, I couldn’t get enough of the Elephant and Piggie books. As I got older, I fell in love with Harry Potter and Keeper of the Lost Cities, and I can never get enough of books by Kelly Yang and Jennifer A. Nielsen. What I love most about stories is how they show young people, just like me, finding their strength and courage in tough situations. Whether it’s laughing or crying, a good book always feels like a friend.
I started Strength in Stories as part of my Girl Scout Silver Award project because I want other kids to experience the same power of reading that I’ve felt. Stories have always helped me grow, learn, and feel connected to the world, and I believe every child should have the chance to discover that, too!
Join me in spreading the joy of reading and empowering the next generation!
