Book Summary

A young girl named Esperanza looses her father and her home and has to move, with her mom and servants from Mexico to the U.S. to find jobs for everyone. They used to be rich, but now they are poor and have to work if they want to eat. They have very poor living conditions and must learn how to do things like how to do laundry or sweep so they might have a chance at getting a better life.

Favorite Part or Fun Fact

When Esperanza gives food to a family that was starving, even though she needed the food too.
