Hey there, Readers!

If you're anything like me, summer is when you finally get to read what you want such as books that tug on your heartstrings, keep you guessing, or totally wreck you in the best way.

This list is for high school readers who are ready for big stories, big emotions, and bold characters. These books stuck with me long after I finished them, and a few of them made me want to start back at page one the second I was done.

Some of these stories deal with serious topics such as war, grief, and injustice, so be sure to check content warnings or ask a trusted adult if you’re not sure. There’s also one that’s just pure fantastical magic and excitement and it's one of my favorite series ever, and I had to include it. Let’s get into it!

Top Five Reads for High School

These are some of my favorite picks for high school readers. Whether you’re into historical fiction, fantasy, thrillers, or dark twists on fairy tales, there’s something here for you. Narrated by Death (yes, literally), this one is emotional, powerful, and beautifully written. It’s about words, war, and a girl who finds light in the darkest places.

This is my favorite series of all time. It’s full of magic, mystery, and characters who feel so real. If you love fantasy worlds and can’t resist a good twist, you’ll be hooked.

Two stories, one spy ring, and so many secrets. This historical fiction book has danger, drama, and tough choices. If you like strong female leads, check this one out.

A dark twist on Beauty and the Beast where Belle uncovers something huge about the curse. It's moody, mysterious, and perfect if you like fairy tales with a twist.

The thriller is intense. A nurse, a patient in a coma, and a past that keeps creeping back. I couldn't stop reading and kept saying "just one more chapter" ... and then it's 2a.m.
